Darkroom Wannabe

When I was living at home with my parents I had a darkroom. Now, it wasn’t a proper darkroom, but it was my darkroom – in my bathroom. It was big enough, had running water when/if needed, and it had the ability to be pitch black. I would spend hours upon hours in there printing and reprinting. It was a source of calm for me and sparked creativity. I moved away from my parents’ place 5 years ago and haven’t had a darkroom since. Every now and then I wish I could be back in the darkroom.

Why am I telling you this? I have decided to use our old shed and turn it into a darkroom that I can use. I am very excited and can’t wait to start. There needs to be a lot done to it- for instance, cleaning it out, scrubbing it down, building shelves and fixing up some rotten wood…not to mention adding a door.

Here is the shed now as it awaits transformation.
